The world is a very great deal less weird without them both.

Hi, but it's still pretty weird - I've been muttering silent little
prayers to Hitch all day.

I gather he gave us permission to pray *for* him if that made us feel
better, but I doubt if he considered *that* possibility. %^)

Did I mention seeing his face on my toast? and the meditating on his
epistles?

My Dear Hitchens, you sent Jerry Falwell to a mythical hell never once
guessing you could be sent to its opposite place. Sure, you followed
Orwell's caution to avoid sainthood - indeed, to the letter - with
alcohol, tobacco and *so forth* enthusiastically not avoided.
Especially the *so forth*. Still (in spite of that acid tongue) what
you really wanted was pretty much what we all want. Peace on earth.
Good will to men.
